Brunei Liaison Office A project by Mitsubishi Corporation, Brunei Liaison Office Environmental Education Tour Project to Tenaga Seria Brunei Home About the Project Educational Materials Gallery Art Competition Video Competition The Tenaga Suria Brunei Photovoltaic Power Generation Demonstration Project plant is an on-grid 1.2 megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant commissioned in 2010 as a part of a joint project between the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Mitsubishi Corporation, Japan. It was opened on 26 May 2011. The plant was in evaluation and analysis phase for two years with the objective to identify the performance characteristics of six different types of PV panels and therefore identify the best performing PV panel under Brunei meteorological conditions. After the evaluation period, the Department of Electrical Services, Ministry of Energy took over plant ownership in 2013, looking after the daily plant operation and maintenance. At present, the plant contributes about 0.14% of the country’s total power generation capacity and is operated by the Department of Electrical Services, Ministry of Energy.
